YA, AmCham, and IA Join Forces Again to Provide GA Training

After its first-ever AmCham Government Affairs (GA) Certificate Program on June 27th, 2016, Yuan Associates, along with AmCham and Intellect Associates, again joined forces to host a second round of training courses from November 8th to 9th, 2016. 


As a two day event, the first day’straining theme was “From Good to Great: Results-Driven Business Advocacy,” which was trained through an interactive case study format to improve the attendees’ professional skills of strategic thinking, communication, andanalysis.


The second day’s theme was “Beginning With The End In Mind, Seeking Truth From Facts: Government Relations-Based Policy Research.” This was a new segment of the trainingcourse, which discussed effective policy research through case study analysis and sharing expert knowledge and past work experiences. Overall, the course improved the trainees’ policy research ability and served as a platform for GA professionals to engage in eye-opening dialogue. The GA trainees, who came from all walks of life, were able to learn from each other and gained newprofessional skills from the event.




The Founder and President of Yuan Associates, Yuan Haiying, attended both training sessions and shared his key takeaways from his several decades of experience as an expert in Government Affairs. With his keen insight, Mr. Yuan explained the vast changes of the macro political and economic environment in China, as well as changes in the working methods of GA tasks.  His goal was for all attendees to learn the professional, systematic, and refined skills needed to become effective Government Affairs professionals in the future.



During the training, Yuan Associates also invited Ms. Cathy Yan, PPG’s Asia Pacific General Manager of Corporate andGovernment Affairs, Ms. Cherry Zhao,  McDonald’s China Vice President ofCorporate Affairs, Ms. Li Lu, the representative of GM & Associates, and Katie Beck, Senior Manager for Policy Initiatives and Liaison to the US Chamberof Commerce. All of these special guests shared their expertise about government affairs and policy research with the trainees.


This round’s trainees hailed from all walks of life and various industries, including manufacturing, food and agriculture, medical/pharmaceutical, service, high-tech, finance, real estate,and embassies, etc.  Their professional experiences ranged from beginner to expert. All participants were highly satisfied with the content of the Government Affairs Certificate Program, praising its course as “content that is very professional and systematic,” “practical”, and “innovative.” The trainees expressed that they look forward to future programs that will create more case study analysis and experience sharing opportunities.
